INTRODUCING OUR 2024/2025 SEASON

THE GREAT GILBERT & SULLIVAN BAKE-OFF
October 27, 2024
Also simulcast

Our 60th gala production features a loving tribute to former Lamplighters Music Director Baker Peeples!

Beginning his journey in 1975 as a tenor in Trial by Jury/HMS Pinafore, Baker has been an instrumental component of the success and longevity of Lamplighters. Help us celebrate his legacy by attending our largest fundraiser of the year, which includes the Gala committee’s trademark parodies of original G&S lyrics and music, a silent auction, and Fund-A-Need! Be sure to add on the VIP Reception to enjoy celebratory champagne and hors d’oeuvres, and to toast over 45 years of Lamplighters memories with our treasured leader and friend!
A MINISTER’S WIFE
February 15– 16, 2025

How far will we go, for love?

Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play, Candida, A MINISTER’S WIFE tells the story of a successful, popular and upright Anglican minister, his loving and devoted wife, and a young poet who attempts to come between them.

Navigating the highly emotional territory of LOVE and the choices we make to preserve it, this masterpiece contains astonishing revelations about the human condition, where the heart leads us, and why. Premiering in 2009 at Writer’s Theatre in Chicago (Jefferson Award for Best Musical) and moving to Lincoln Center Theater in 2011, A MINISTER’S WIFE is a tuneful and powerful mix of chamber operetta and musical theater.

With a gorgeous score by award-winning composer Joshua Schmidt and book by theatrical legend Austin Pendleton, A MINISTER’S WIFE will leave you moved and exhilarated!

THE SORCERER
May 16 – 18, 2025
Simulcast on May 18, 2024

Gilbert and Sullivan’s first two-act operetta.

The year is 1920, and around the world the fascination with the occult is booming! Fortunately, England has long had one of the most reputable firms specializing in the magical art—J. W. Wells & Co. And to the sleepy town of Ploverleigh comes the great Sorcerer himself, John Wellington Wells, purveyor of potions and spells. The thrilling brew he offers is designed to set hearts ablaze among the classes, removing barriers of rank and more for the wedding guests of Alexis and Aline. But can true love be bottled? Magical enchantment comes at a cost in Gilbert and Sullivan’s early masterpiece.
